As director of King + Company’s Healthcare, Foundations + The Life Sciences practice, Executive Vice President and Partner Caren Browning leads strategic public relations for many of the world’s most respected healthcare organizations and non-profit foundations. Her superb skills as a media relations expert, strategic counsel and marketing and branding specialist have helped her worldwide clients deliver their key messages and build their businesses.
Ms. Browning’s team’s client roster includes, among many others: amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research; The Estēe Lauder Companies’ Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign; Heifer International; Visiting Nurse Service of New York; UCSF’s Department of Neurological Surgery; Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation for Cancer Research; and Dignitana, the world leader in medical scalp-cooling technology.
In the digital sphere, Ms. Browning directs PR for Flu Near You, a crowdsourcing flu surveillance app created by the Skoll Global Threats Fund. Her team also provides strategic social media expertise for BreastCancerTrials.org and successfully launched AutisMate, an iPad app and communications tool for individuals with autism.
Ms. Browning supervises media relations for the Diller Teen Tikkun Olam Awards presented by the Jewish Community Federation of San Francisco and the Helen Diller Family Foundation, and, alongside her KCo colleagues, has provided counsel to prestigious non-profits including the Arby’s Foundation, Worldwide Orphans Foundation and The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
Ms. Browning joined The Morris + King Company, now King + Company, in 2006. Earlier in her career, Ms. Browning represented such iconic consumer brands as Balance Bar, Campbell’s Soup, Hasbro, Post-it Notes and Scotch Tape. Landing in New York as a professional actress nearly two decades ago, she earned credits on Broadway and in major theaters from London to California. “Law & Order: SVU” fans often recognize her in her recurring role as Captain Judy Siper, whom she has portrayed in more than 40 episodes.
